This home is over 5000 sqft on two levels and has a large three car garage.  The land it was built on is just above sea level and near a major river.  As a result, the foundation had to be built on piles.  60 creosote soaked logs  were pounded into the ground until refusal.  After the logs were trimmed, we formed the pile caps.  After the pile caps were poured, we formed grade beams (free flowing reinforced concrete connecting all the pile caps), and finally the slab.  As you can see from the photos, this slab was heavily reinforced in order to transfer the load of the structure directly onto the piles.  On top of the slab, we formed 8’ high exterior walls for the crawl space.  Lower concrete walls were formed inside the crawl space, on which load bearing walls were built.  This was definitely an interesting home to frame.
